Giuseppe Penone
Giuseppe Penone carves into tree trunks exposing the inside of the tree. I am interested in the life and characteristics of trees, their bark, their wood, their width and height. The way Penone exposes the inside of the tree is something I'm interested in, it shows the life of the tree in the rings but also creates a different surface compared to the outside bark. Penone also displays the tree's bark, something I've always been interested in is the grooves and scars across a tree's bark, the older the tree is the more character it has.
